首长阿邦佐哈里今日首度开腔回应闹得沸沸扬扬的脱离伊斯兰教案件，他表示，砂政府将在6个月内修改砂拉越伊斯兰法令，以让欲改教者可通过完善的程序（SOP）进行改教。
他说，2001年的砂伊斯兰法令存有不足之处，需要改进。
他强调，没有适当的程序解决宗教问题，让个人的宗教地位“悬着”，是不公平的事。
Chief Minister #AbangJo said the state government will make amendments to the state ordinance to reach an administrative solution on apostasy cases.
He admitted that there are loopholes in the current Majlis Islam Sarawak Ordinance 2001 that needs to be strengthened and a standard operating procedure (SOP) to follow.
“I want to strengthen that ordinance, give me six months,” said Abang Johari to a press conference after officiating the St. Joseph’s International School opening this morning.
He added that it is unjust to leave an individual “hanging” when it comes to the status of their religion without a proper avenue to solve it.
